Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to hold a current leadership position in my band to attend?

We believe true leaders are those who value improving themselves so that they may better the world around them. Titles can help with that but are not evidence of a leader. SAML’s Fall Step-Off is designed for students (with or without a current position) seeking ways to learn and improve.

Will lunch be provided?

No, lunch will not be included. However, water and snacks will be provided.

What should I bring?

All participants should bring water, something to take notes with, sunscreen, and a hat (optional).

Flourishers must bring their mace or baton and whistle.

Conductors should bring a copy of a music score they’d like to work on (not mandatory) and a conducting baton (if applicable).
